Global Virtual Classroom

The Global Virtual Classroom contest is open each year to more than 400 schools across the world. Acceptance into the contest is determined by an application process. Once a school is accepted into the program, it is paired with two other schools and tasked with creating a website that is both aesthetically pleasing and culturally relevant.

Point Option High School was accepted into the GVC contest in September of 2009. Paired with schools in Japan and India, the schools had seven months in which to create a website designed around a globally beneficial theme. Once the theme of ocean conservation was agreed upon, Point Option students and teacher Renee Raspanti, together with TCIS Michael McGee, began the process of designing and building the website. Our website, was awarded the prestigious “Exceptional Creativity” merit award by the Global Virtual Classroom board of directors (made up of current and former directors, vice presidents, and CEOs of such companies as AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Synergistic Systems, and more).

We at Point Option are honored and pleased to have been singled out for such an award. Out of the possible 450 schools around the world, ours was chosen to receive honor. Please join us in celebrating the achievements of our school, which continues to prove that despite our small size, we are rich in talent and creativity.
